Nearby Alnwick is home to the Duke of Northumberland, the famous castle being featured in Harry Potter is a huge attraction as is the Duchess water gardens. Alnwick has some cobbled streets and a selection of cafés, pubs and shops to while away a few hours. Travel a few minutes away to Morpeth, an historic and important little town where you will find plenty of shops and cafés as well as riverside boats and leisure complex. You may wish to travel north to Berwick on Tweed, under an hour away where you can be close to the Scottish Borders taking a day to discover more history about the county.
